mobile phones have improved our life????

The fact is, of course, that mobiles can be extremely helpful. I love answering emails while lying in bed with a cup of tea, then arriving at work feeling relaxed because my messages have been dealt with. The trick is to find a way of ensuring we are masters, rather than slaves, of the technology. We need to be aware of how much our little device is taking control of our lives. Then we can take steps to control it, and it can go back to being what it should be: an enormously useful and entertaining device. They’re helpful in managing family relationships, particularly if you’re a working mother fixing up childcare or checking on the kids. They keep you in touch with the office if you’re out on a job.
Of course there’s a downside. Many people can’t get away from work because their bosses have their mobile numbers so they’re constantly on call. Nor do I like the way the mobile is fetishised, so that people obsess over what kind of phone they have. It’s heavily sexualised through marketing, which makes people think it’s all about their identity, which is rubbish.
So while on the whole mobile phones have improved our lives now, I’m less sure about the future.
